the fear before her boudoir session + how she felt afterwards | Sarah testimonial - Vancouver Boudoir Photography
I'm excited to bring this post to you today. This is a guest post from the incomparable soul Sarah Yenko.
When Sarah came to me for her Vancouver boudoir photoshoot, she was nervous beyond belief. However as the course of the shoot went by, she slowly but surely came out of her shell and absolutely knocked it out of the park. I'll let her take it away from here and share with you how she felt throughout her boudoir session and what the experience was like for her.
Vancouver Boudoir photoshoot client Testimonial
My biggest fear before hiring Chelsey didn't have anything to do with her. She came so highly recommended by many amazing women.
My fear was within myself.
For most of my life, there always had to be a condition. I could only do something, or get somewhere if or when I reached a certain number on the scale.
So, naturally in my mind, even if I have always wanted to try doing a boudoir shoot I kept putting it off. I thought that I needed to lose more weight to allow myself to go for it.
Long story short, here I am today writing about my experience after already working with Chelsey on my very first Boudoir shoot. It was honestly one of the most empowering experiences I have ever had in my life.
Hands down my favourite part of the experience was the opportunity to be able to work with someone as wonderful as Chelsey. I consider this to be such a privilege. It is not every day you can find someone you can feel comfortable with while wearing very little.
She was able to provide such a safe space for me to truly be me, just Sarah. It was such a vulnerable situation, yet she was able to make me feel the beauty of vulnerability.
After the first few shots you can really tell how much I relaxed after Chelsey took a few deep breaths with me. She reassured me that I was alright and always did it with a smile.
This whole journey of coming back to my body started about a year and a half ago. I started dancing with Army of Sass and now with Luminesque Dance. When I first started it was hard for me to even look in the mirror as I moved to the music. It was as if I was moving against all my past judgements towards myself and looking at them right in the mirror. IT WAS DIFFICULT.
Slowly, as the months passed, it became a little easier. I am in no way saying that it's now very easy for me. It is going to take me a while to work on getting rid of the shame/insecurities I've built myself around for the last 27 years.
I am so glad that I decided to start. I decided I was no longer willing to wait for the love and acceptance from anyone else, or even from myself. My love was no longer going to wait for a later date or a later weight. In celebration of all that I've accomplished within myself in 2016-2017.
Starting 2018 with a Boudoir shoot with Chelsey was already the cherry on top of the start to a great year for me! Now I have something to look back on and say, 'I wanted to start to live my life for me, and I actually did it!'
What I would say to someone who isn't ready is, 'Girl! if you are already inquiring about it, that is your gut telling you, THIS IS WHAT YOU WANT TO DO FOR YOURSELF. THIS ISN'T FOR ANYONE ELSE. THIS IS JUST FOR YOU. I know how hard the resistance can get but trust and believe me, you will not regret anything you choose to do for YOU'.
If I were to recommend Chelsey to my best friend I would say, 'I mean, did you see my photos?!??! :) If you're looking for a fun way to boost your confidence, Chelsey is your girl! She will make your experience fun and memorable. Your photos will come out looking absolutely stunning, and you will remember this as something special you treated yourself tom because you deserve it. You deserve to feel beautiful in your skin. EVERY WOMAN DOES.'
