In a word: Connection.

The biggest factor in being able to live in alignment with our best, most vibrant selves (the version of you that doesn’t struggle with a lack of confidence, hating her body, is constantly searching for the next diet, who’s life is ruled by what she’s eating, worrying about what others think of her all the time, or wishes she could simply love herself), is our connection with ourselves.

What does connection actually mean?

Connection is simply the act of being in your body, of feeling your feelings fully without judgement, and honouring the intuitive hits (AKA gut reactions) we get from our bodies.

When we stop living only in our heads, and are in our bodies, we have access to SO much that otherwise gets left behind.

✔️ How we feel + what those feelings are trying to tell us.
✔️ What our dreams are.
✔️ What we desire in life.
✔️ Whether a relationship is good for us.
✔️ What steps to take next in ANY situation.
✔️ When a scenario is dangerous.

So this is your opportunity to get radically honest with yourself.

When was the last time you actually felt connected with yourself?

Let yourself feel the weight of your answer. Whatever your answer is, is perfect. Why?

Because this is your truth. It’s from a place of honesty - not making the reality better or worse than it is - and looking at exactly where you are, that you’re able to begin shifting into a relationship that you prefer from a state of love.

A simple exercise to begin deepening your level of self connection is by spending time focusing on your breath.

Want a specific exercise? Read on.

Follow the information below for in-depth direction on how to connect with yourself:

  • Set a timer for 2 minutes.

  • Close your eyes.

  • Place one hand on your chest, and another on your tummy.

  • Begin to inhale slowly in through your nose. Pause for a few moments. Exhale through your mouth.

  • Bring your attention to your breath.

  • Simply notice how breathing actually feels in your body.

  • Are you breathing shallow, or deeply?

  • Notice the air moving through your lungs.

  • See if you can deepen your breath even further.

  • While breathing, practice breathing from your belly by having the hand on your belly raise first on each inhale.

  • Have gratitude for this simple act, knowing that it’s literally keeping you alive, fuelling your body, and allowing you to be in the present moment.

  • Pay attention to how it feels to slowly breathe in through your nose, pause, then exhale out through the breath.

  • Simply notice how breathing actually feels.

This gentle exercise will help to bring you back into the moment, and through repeated practice will begin to rebuild the connection you have with yourself.

There are so many different ways you can begin to dive deep into connection with yourself. This exercise of self connection, and paying attention to our breath is accessible to anyone because it doesn’t cost a cent.
