How would your life be different if you felt deeply connected to yourself?

Speaking from personal experience, I lived my life for decades in a state of total disconnect and self loathing. I was at war with myself, hating my body. I so desperately wanted to crawl out of my skin, and trade lives with anybody else in an attempt to get away from who I was.

The truth was that in order to stop the war I’d been waging against myself, I needed to choose to reconnect deeply with myself instead.

I fought that realization long and hard. I may as well have been beating my head into a brick wall in an attempt to avoid the glaring truth.

When I finally decided that the struggle wasn’t mine to own any longer is when I began to navigate out of the mess I’d been living in.

Choosing to shift out of disconnection was no quick fix. It wasn’t an overnight shift. It took time, gratitude and a whole lot of compassion for myself.

Deciding to be deeply connected to myself is what has allowed me to figure out who I am and what I want in the world. It’s what has allowed me to choose a life path and career from that place of alignment. I would not be a Vancouver boudoir photographer or body image coach without being connected to the woman that I am.

I want to take a quick sec’ to acknowledge the fear that is palpable when doing this. That fear (the same one that has kept you in a state of disconnect) is simply there to protect you. It’s only trying to keep you safe - which is why the disconnection happens in the very first place!

So even though it can be easy to beat ourselves for this cycle of being in fear + self hate, this is the perfect opportunity to practice compassion for yourself and rebuild the relationship with yourself.

Recognize that the disconnect came from a need for safety, and that sense of safety is what helped to keep you alive! Have gratitude for the path that you walked, and being exactly where you are right now, because without it, you would not be the vibrant, incredible woman that you are at your core - even if small version of you is telling you otherwise.

If you’re looking to build a deeper connection with yourself, I highly recommend my free 5 day Self Care Challenge. It’s open now, and you can access it by going here.

When we reconnect to ourselves + our bodies, we’re able to rediscover the woman we are, but lost along the way, and can reawaken our desires in order to pursue our dreams + create a life that feels incredible.

So reply to this email and tell me how would your life be different if you felt deeply connected to yourself.

I can't wait to jam on this more with you!
