The 3 Things Perfectionism Kills - by Chelsey Luren

The need to be perfect used to permeate every possible aspect of my life. Within my family, school, friends, religion, job, and every possible interaction I had in the world - it all had to be immaculate.

I so clearly remember convincing myself that I was having high standards, and that I wanted to only give my best. I used to wear my perfectionism boldly, and proud.

But here’s the reality…

How to Intuitively Eat - by Chelsey Luren

I have had so many women reach out to me, asking about intuitive eating. Wondering what diets I follow, the cookbooks I use, and how to know what to do in terms of nutrition.

So many women - especially those who’ve operated from a place dysfunction, or even disordered relationship with food - have only ever known guilt + shame about what they’re eating, counting calories, and the constant desperate search for the next miracle diet…

Why Self Care Isn't About Feeling Good All The Time - by Chelsey Luren

Self care doesn’t always mean bubble baths or walks on the beach. Self care is doing the things you don’t necessarily want to do, because they’re actually good for you.

How do I know that this is the truth?

For 9 months of 2014-2015 I carried a big secret…

The Key To Loving Yourself, Having Body Confidence, and Finally Eating Like a Normal Person - by Chelsey Luren

Want to know what the key to unlocking your entire self love journey is?

The biggest factor in being able to live in alignment with our best, most vibrant selves (the version of you that doesn’t struggle with a lack of confidence, hating her body, is constantly searching for the next diet, who’s life is ruled by what she’s eating, worrying about what others think of her all the time, or wishes she could simply love herself), is…

How to Feel Confident Without Going on a Diet - by Chelsey Luren

Confidence, self love, and body positivity are incredible tools.

Telling women they are good enough, worthy of what they desire, and that they are allowed to love themselves as they are is 100% fact. I am a huge advocate of this, and stand firmly behind this message.

The entire movement of body positivity is one that was invaluable to me when I was first beginning my recovery from anorexia over 8 years ago.

But here’s the thing that’s not really being talked about in it…

I'm excited to bring this post to you today. This is a guest post from the incomparable soul Sarah Yenko.

"My biggest fear before hiring Chelsey didn't have anything to do with her. She came so highly recommended by many amazing women.

Why Healing the Relationship With Ourselves is a Privilege | Vancouver Boudoir Photographer + Body Image Coach

Healing our body image issues and the relationship we have with ourselves is not work, but a privilege.

This realm of personal development - where we heal the relationship with ourselves, mend our body image woes and shift from low self esteem into radiant confidence - there are a lot of time, effort, energy, and resources are involved.

To dive in and shift our lives takes a willingness to be uncomfortable, to face truths we may have ignored, to stand in places of our shame in order to heal.

More often than not, this is…

Why I Became a Boudoir Photographer and Body Image Coach | Vancouver, Canada

For so long I have shied away from sharing the truth of my soul and the path I have walked. I have muted the calling to be more, do more, give more to the world. I have tried to hide away, to disown, to ignore, and deny parts of myself.

I love the work I do as a boudoir photographer and body image coach - it sets my soul ablaze.

But the fear in being seen while in my truth is one that runs deep. “What will people say? What if they hate me? What if I offend someone? What if nobody gets it and I’m alone in this world?” The thoughts sting and make me want to retreat into myself and hide away from the light.

Why Self Connection Matters and How To Do It | Body Image Coach + Vancouver Boudoir Photographer

How would your life be different if you felt deeply connected to yourself?

Speaking from personal experience, I lived my life for decades in a state of total disconnect and self loathing. I was at war with myself, hating my body. I so desperately wanted to crawl out of my skin, and trade lives with anybody else in an attempt to get away from who I was.

The truth was that

Vancouver Boudoir Photoshoot with Carly Stone - Testimonial Review

While 9 out of 10 of the women that I work with in my Vancouver boudoir sessions are the everyday woman (ie. Having never been photographed professionally before - let alone doing something so intimate as a boudoir photoshoot). Every now and again though, I work with women who are accustomed to being in the spotlight.

One such woman I recently had the opportunity to photograph is Carly Stone.

Carly is a model and body positivity activist with a heart of gold. Her heart + energy are contagious and they radiate outwards through the camera lens.

Here's what Carly had to say about her boudoir session with me and a few of our favourite of the gorgeous, and intimate boudoir images I captured of her during our shoot:

Client Testimonial and Video Review Miss P. | Vancouver Boudoir Photography

When Parneet came to my studio for her boudoir session, she was one of the most shy, and meek women I've ever worked with. Being able to see her come out of her shell and step into her power through her boudoir photo shoot was a total honour.

But don't take my word for it, here's what she had to say about her Vancouver boudoir photo shoot with me in her testimonial video and written word.

Here's the real love you need in your life | Vancouver Boudoir Photographer + Body Image Coach

Ahh, February 14th.

The day of the year that people shift their focus to love.

...Queue eye roll.

Now don’t get me wrong, I love love.

The butterflies in your stomach. The rose coloured glasses. The way time slips away when you're spending time with that special someone. The sighs and fluttering eyes.

All those feel good feelings that circulate, keep you awake at night, and get the blood pumping are amazing.

But the fact of the matter is this:

We can only love another to the extent that we love ourselves first.

In order to really love another person, we need to love ourselves first.

How can that be?

What Nearly Dying Taught Me

A while ago I had a near death experience.

I'd been very sick with the flu and was very congested from it. Then during one evening I had a coughing fit that I couldn't control. The congestion was so intense that it closed up my throat. I was unable to talk and couldn't breathe, so my husband Tyler quickly rushed me to the hospital...
